Naturalisation

Naturalisation is the best route to citizenship for those with ILR or settled status and born outside of the UK. It is the last step towards receiving a British passport.

The naturalisation process involves filling out an application form, paying the required fee, passing the Life in the UK test, and attending a citizenship ceremony where you will make an oath of allegiance to the Crown and receive a certificate of naturalisation.

To be eligible you must meet several requirements : 

• • You must hold ILR for the past 12 months
• • You cannot have more than 90 days of absences from the UK 12 months prior
• • You must show 5 years lawful residence, therefore no more than 450 days absences
• • Pass the Life In the UK test
• • Pass the English Language requirement
• • You must show good character
